GreenCape
Green jobs and environmental restoration matter differently in Cape Town than in many other South African cities. The Cape's economy depends on water, tourism, and agriculture—all threatened by climate stress, pollution, and ecosystem collapse. GreenCape builds pathways for people into work that fixes these problems: renewable energy, waste reduction, water conservation, ecological restoration. Communities that have been excluded from the mainstream economy get training and employment in work that directly improves their surroundings. It's not charity; it's structural: environmental problems create genuine jobs, and unemployed people can perform that work once trained. The organisation connects those two realities, building resilience for both people and the city's future.
