Sex Workers Education & Advocacy Taskforce
When an organisation works with sex workers, competence means understanding what actually keeps people safe versus what sounds good to funders. It means knowing the difference between harm reduction that works and moralised intervention that fails. SWEAT's advocacy is grounded in direct experience—their staff and partners are embedded in the community they represent, not dropped in from elsewhere. They navigate complex relationships with law enforcement, health services, and other NGOs, pushing back against criminalisation while connecting members to testing, treatment, and legal support. Success here is measured by whether sex workers' own voices drive the agenda, not by output metrics.
