Trail Running
Running on Paarl's trails means dealing with elevation, loose gravel, and the kind of terrain that builds serious leg strength. Most people who get into trail running here are looking for something different from pavement pounding—they want to escape the monotony and test themselves against real obstacles. Finding a group that knows the local routes, understands the risks of uneven ground, and can pace sessions so newcomers don't bite off more than they can chew makes the difference between sticking with it and giving up after two outings. A decent trail running community knows where to run in winter when the Western Cape rain makes certain paths treacherous, and where the summer conditions are manageable.
