In Mbombela, the café scene near Riverside Mall and in the White River area (15 minutes north) has the most developed specialty coffee offering in the region. White River specifically has built a small artisan food and coffee culture driven by the agricultural expat community. Mbombela's subtropical climate makes outdoor seating genuinely pleasant for most of the year, unlike the highveld which has an uncomfortably cold winter.
