DRC Molen serves a constituency beyond its immediate pews — it operates a preschool that supports working parents, hosts a community feeding scheme that runs year-round, and coordinates with social workers and pastoral counsellors to catch people falling through gaps in George's welfare net. These are not add-ons but expressions of what the congregation understands as its calling. The church building itself functions as a space for neighborhood use: recovery groups meet in the hall, funeral teas are prepared there, local organisations hold meetings. Staff and volunteers, many of them unpaid, manage the logistics of these commitments while also stewarding worship and spiritual formation. In a town where isolation, economic strain, and family breakdown are real pressures, a church that shows up practically — not just theologically — becomes part of George's social infrastructure.
